Of excellent figured and faded colour. With wide plank top, moulded edge and shaped ends. The base with baluster and bobbin-turned stretchers and legs decorated with fluting. Original dovetail hinges. Under top, supporting cleats and bars are old restorations. On bun feet.

Note: Before the fashion for more formal dining at a long central table in the second half of the eighteenth Century, it was usual in England to have two or more circular or oval folding tables at which guests sat informally. The tables could be moved to one side when not in use.
A similar George II mahogany gateleg dining table of circular shape is illustrated in the publication: Norman Adams Ltd: 75th Anniversary, 1998, Plate 4.
