Early Georgian Oak Country Antique Bureau.
This gorgeous antique country bureau is an early Georgian oak piece dating from around 1740.
It has a fall front with key escutcheon, key and lock (not working but key fits in the lock enabling fall front to open easily). The interior has six small oak lined drawers and eight pigeon holes. The lower section of the antique bureau has four graduating oak lined drawers with moulded edges and brass swan neck handles. The bureau stands on shaped bracket feet and has the usual character marks one would expect to find on such an early piece. It is a medium dark oak with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
