A fine Worcester cup of quatrefoil lobed shape with a double scroll handle exquisitely painted with a Chinese figure holding a fringed parasol, the side panels painted with a bird on a flowering plant and a peony spray growing from rockwork.

Paintings of this period show coffee cups being passed around on silver trays and so they did not require saucers. Worcester also decorated this shape in underglaze blue but only two examples are recorded. These rare cups were only produced for a very short period, probably no more than a year.
