Highly unusual 6¼ in. [15cm.] diameter brass-cased aneroid barometer – no. 13863, the well-engraved silvered brass dial bearing twin curved thermometers: mercury Fahrenheit and alcohol Centigrade and Réaumur. The chased bezel is typical of the maker, Lucien Vidi of Paris. The weather notations are in Dutch and the scale in centimetres, indicating that the barometer was probably commissioned by a Dutch retailer from Dent, whose serial number it bears.
