Fine and very rare 5inch [13cm] diameter brass cased aneroid barometer – No. 343, a very early number. The well-engraved silvered brass dial, signed “Dent – Paris”, bearing curved Fahrenheit mercury thermometer and protected by bevelled plate glass, held in by Dent’s trademark bezel.

Dent, a renowned maker of quality clocks, secured the UK franchise from the French aneroid barometer patentee Lucien Vidi and sold many thousands – consecutively numbered - from 1844 until the patent expired in 1860. Only the earliest examples were signed with the Paris location
