A fine mid 18th Century scarlet lacquered 'bell top' verge Bracket Clock of good proportions. The bell top with carrying handle and four torch finials above a arched dial with cast brass corner spandrels, side viewing windows and standing on a shaped apron. The scarlet lacquered case is depicting chinese figures and oriental scenes in fully restored condition. The brass dial with silvered chapter ring, shaped name plaque and date and strike/silent dials, matted centre and rococo cast brass spandrels. Fronting an eight day spring driven fusee movement with a finely engraved and signed backplate. Running for eight days with a verge escapement and striking the hours on a bell. In fully restored working condition and guaranteed 12 months. Note; Edward Wicksteed is recorded working between 1763 and 1811.
