Mahogany Cased Mantel Clock

An early 20th century Edwardian mahogany cased mantel clock.

The clock has an eight day French movement that strikes the hour and half hour on a coiled gong.

The works are stamped on the back with the maker's mark 'AD Mougin Deux Medailles'.

AD Mougin was a famous clock maker in Paris from the mid 19th century forward. Mougin was one of the better clock makers of the time and obtained two gold medals from the Paris exhibitions.

The white enamel dial has blue Arabic numbers, a brass bezel and a domed bevel edge glass.

The case is raised on low brass bun feet and has box wood, satinwood and marquetry inlays to the front and plinth.

The marquetry has fan decorations in the corners and a conch shell in the centre.

The clock is in very good condition and is in full working order. (Circa 1900)
