Enamel plain dial with Arabic numbers. Back of case inscribed with the monogram JMC. Inside cover inscribed with case maker’s initials C.W.C. Co. for the Crescent Watch Case Co. with the trade mark of a star and crescent moon. Watch movement inscribed Am. Watch Company, Waltham, Massachusetts with the serial number 7102979 which dates the watch to approximately 1895. The gold plating was achieved by rolling a layer of gold either side of a layer of brass or brass alloy, thereby giving it considerably more durability. Inscription on the outer rim of the case gives the initials T.D. before DEC 7.86, possibly its day of manufacture and the initials of the maker. The movement contains 7 jewels.
