An extremely good quality English figured mahogany chamfer top bracket / table clock with ebony moulding, decorative brass inlay, inset corner panels and brass moulded edges to the front stood on brass ball feet finished with a pineapple finial to the top. The clock has fish scale sound frets and decorative floral leaf brass ring carrying handles to the side of the case.

The movement is a five pillar, twin fusee, eight day with pull repeat action, top pendulum adjustment and holdfast. The clock strikes the hours on a bell.

John Thwaites & George Jeremiah Reed went into partnership in 1816. Thwaites & Reed were well-known and respected clock makes who also made movements for many other clock makers. Big Ben was maintained by a team of eight for over 30 years from Thwaites & Reed.
