Augustus Fraser commanded the artillery at the British invasions of the Rio de la Plata (1807) and the Horse Artillery on Wellington's staff in the Peninsular War and later during the Waterloo Campaign.
He was born in Dunkitk, Scotland and went to the High School of Edinburgh where he was a contemporary of Lord Brougham. In 1809 he married Emma Lynn of Woodbridge, Suffolk.
