As part of our oriental collection we are delighted to offer this magnificent Japanese gold lacquer noh mask with attached carved ivory netsuke and bronzed ojime , the mask itself is of the finest quality gold lacquer, the facial hair details produced from a thick abalone shell and carved in the finest detail, the facial expresssion is charming with big brown eyes and beautiful white teeth the character comes to life , he is fitted with his original silk cord from which suspends a large but to scale pierced and carved ivory netsuke which itself is a work of art , the netsuke is somehow completely hollowed out and depicts a flying Tengu to one side and a galloping Kirin to the other all amidst the finest quality floral detailed carving, the silk cord houses a bronzed pierced ojime bead for adjustment ,the mask is nicely signed to a mother of pearl tablet on the inside,this must surely be the finest and largest gold lacquer mask available on the market today , simply exquisite !!
The condition for a gold lacquer mask of this age and size is superb with very minimal and expected useage /age related wear.
