A Chinese Eighteenth Century Mug made for the export trade to Europe in the famile rose taste.

The central image appears to show a Chinese representation of European people, perhaps a child being tutored and the mother, concealed, is listening to the discourse.

The robes are depicted as if eighteenth century or possibly earlier and European, and perhaps just how the Chinese artist thought the European style to be.

The thickly applied enamels overglaze give a slightly three dimensional effect to the scene.
The mug is in excellent condition
