Exquisite Chippendale period Cuban Mahogany Stick Barometer; the case of solid mahogany, profusely decorated with foliate carving, and bearing twin register plates of very finely engraved silvered brass with floral decoration and pierced fretwork. The barometer tube-cover formed of intricate lattice open-fretwork, terminating in subtly- carved cylindrical cistern cover.

During this period of barometer manufacture, it was not customary for makers to sign register plates. However, the undoubted quality of this instrument would suggest strongly that its creator was a highly accomplished London instrument-
maker – frustratingly anonymous.
