This is a continental silver Tea Caddy with assay marks for .925 silver and import marks for Chester 1911. The caddy has an oval lid, which slots onto the body of the caddy. The lid is decorated with repousse scenes around the sides and top. The scene on the top is of a man, holding a basket of flowers, while sitting next to a lady, who is tending her garden. On the sides there is a scene of a shepherdess and of a gardener offering a bunch of flowers to a seated lady (in the back ground there is a little shed and gardening tools. Also around the lid are love birds and another scene of two minstrels. The body of the tea caddy has sloping edges decorated with scroll work. The sides of the caddy are decorated with 2 pairs of raised scenes, repeated on opposite sides of the caddy. On the main front and back sides, the scene is the same to that on the lid. The most narrow sides, have a lady picking apples and putting them into a fruit basket, while a man tends to a potted tree. The caddy is then also decorated with more raised scroll work.
