A particularly rare sized , Japanese Black and Gilt Lacquer Cabinet standing upon the original William and Mary Period Silvered stand . Circa 1685 .
It was quite normal for just the cabinet to be imported from the East and an English base prepared by local craftsmen to suit the English taste .

Note - Lacquer or Urushi is the sap extracted from some Eastern Trees .
Very good.....lacquer and silver original and refreshed in parts .Minor work to some of the metalwork .
