Solid Boxwood and Laburnum With Wicker Banding and Original Silver Mounts
Beautifully sectioned in equal alternating segments of solid box and laburnum, this early example retains its original solid silver mounts. It has good original surface and lovely bold shaped handles. The robust quality and generous scale are also fine features. Quaichs are ancient traditional Scottish ceremonial drinking vessels which were used to drink toasts at clan meetings and festivals, (invariably with Scotch Whiskey). 17th Century and 18th Century examples in fine condition, such as this, are now very scarce. This example also has direct provenance to a distinguished English Private Collection.
