A fine George III mahogany Bonheur Du Jour of rare design. The cabinet top fitted with drawers and pigeonholes behind serpentine panelled doors concealed with gilt vine leaf clasps, above a serpentine front writing drawer fitted with a baize slide, retaining the original brasses, raised on chamber legs. This unusual design predates the more usual Sheraton type Bonheur being both robust and useful, circa 1775.
