A fine quality mid 19th century (1863) French female bronze in the Classical form 'Reflections' by Alexandre Schoenewerk (1820-1885).

This bronze figure consists of a young lady depicted in Classical dress seated in a naturalistic setting in a reflective pose looking into the water with water lilies at her feet and a water urn in her left hand.

Alexandre Schoenewerk (1820-1885) was a French sculptor, he was a student of David d'Angers and was named a Chevalier of the French Legion of Honour in 1873 and he produced many fine quality figures.

There is no evidence of a signature on this piece but we have researched and found this bronze in the following book:

Reference: 'Bronzes: Sculptors & Founders 1800-1930 Volume Three' by Harold Berman page 650, plate 2407

This bronze figure is in excellent condition, is of fine quality and can go straight into a home or collection.
