I am delighted to offer for sale this fine and very small regulator longcase clock dating from the last quarter of the 18th Century made by the eminent makers Spencer and Perkins who are recorded as working from 1765 to 1810 in Snow Hill , London.
The Dutton style case is made from solid mahogany with a thick oak backboard which is only 6ft 3 inches in height . The trunk door is glazed and edged in brass .The engraved silvered brass engraved  dial is only 10 inches wide and the trunk 12 inches wide. The widest part of the base is 16 3/4 inches and the depth 9 inches. As can be seen from the images the proportions are perfect.
The case is in outstanding original condition with an excellent finish and wonderful colour and patination. This has been simply cleaned and waxed .
The original movement has been full stripped and restored by a member of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers.
The 8 day duration 5 pillar movement has dead beat escapement and the unusual feature of bolt and shutter maintaining power . The wheel work is very fine and the pendulum mounting block is mounted across the plates. Please note the micro adjustment of the crutch slot.
It has the very rare feature of having sweep centre seconds which together with the visible swinging pendulum make the clock very pleasing to view in operation.
The lead filled brass pendulum bob is massive and very heavy and has a numbered rating nut .
This is a totally genuine and original antique clock dating from the end of the 18th Century and from the style and design I would estimate it at circa 1780.
I would urge prospective buyers to visit and view the clock as it is much nicer than the images depict.
At the full asking price I will deliver, install and set up the clock and provide a full 12 months guarantee
If a lesser offer is accepted it will considered a trade sale with the clock sold as described with collection/delivery the responsibility of the buyer.
I will ship this clock worldwide but I will only use a specialist shipper who will make a purpose made wooden crate.
Guesstimate rates are as follows
Europe £450 (can possibly meet on the continent)
USA £600
Asia and Australia £800
