A well proportioned 19th Century mahogany Stick Barometer; the arched top with engraved, silvered brass register plate, signed by the maker and bearing manually adjustable vernier. With a slender, finely patinated trunk, edge-moulded and with exposed barometer tube with cistern cover below. Circa 1840

Nathaniel Worthington & James Allan were excellent instrument makers. Their quality and workmanship originate from their Masters Matthew Berge & Jesse Ramsden. Worthington was apprenticed to Berge and took over the business with Allan in 1819 at 196 Piccadilly, London.
