An early Victorian watercolour 'Flamsted House Greenwich' by Thomas Wood. This unusual view shows the back of what is more commonly called The Observatory, on the slope we see a Greenwich Pensioner engaged in conversation with a picnicking family, someone asleep beneath a tree and a couple of deer, at this time able to wander freely within The Royal Park. In a period gilt gesso frame, the bevelled slip written with the title and attribution to the artist.

English circa 1850.
