OIGINALLY FROM PARIS, TH√ČODORE ROUSSEAU WAS A FRENCH PAINTER. BY THE AGE OF 14, HE HAD MOVED TO THE VILLAGE OF BARBIZON AND BEGUN TO PAINT OUTDOORS DIRECTLY FROM NATURE, A NOVEL PRACTICE AT THE TIME. HE NEVER STUDIED FORMALLY BUT NEVERTHELESS, HE BECAME A LEADER OF THE BARBIZON SCHOOL OF LANDSCAPE PAINTERS. ROUSSEAU WAS KNOWN FOR HIS ABILITY TO SHOW NATURE AS A WILD AND UNRULY FORCE, HE GREATLY ADMIRED THE PAINTING STYLES OF CONSTABLE AND BONINGTON AND IS RENOWNED FOR HIS SUNSET AND AFTER DUSK PAINTINGS IN HIS HIGHLY INDIVIDUAL STYLE INTERPRETATION OF NATURE. WORKS BY ROUSSEAU HANG IN MUSEUMS AND GALLERIES ALL OVER THE WORLD.
