Four walnut chairs with baluster turned front legs and stretchers, the back uprights similarly turned and united by silhouette shaped splats containing baluster turned spindles. Central Italy, circa 1680.
All four chairs have small differences
All chairs have been tightened so are robust and usable. Excellent colour and patina.
Chair 1. The centre stretcher between the two side stretchers is chestnut and thinner than the other turnings. It might have been replaced some years ago, or indeed it might be original to the chair, simply different. The back legs have been tipped.
Chair 2. One toe at the front is chipped. The back legs have been tipped
Chair 3. The centre stretcher between the two side stretchers is walnut but probably not original. The back legs have been tipped
Chair 4. The front stretcher between the two front legs is walnut but probably not original. The back legs have been tipped.
