French Boulle Mantel clock with ormolu mounts, circa 1890

This beautiful clock by Samuel Marti is in a Rococo style case with ormolu embellishments. The dial has wonderful white enamel lozenges displaying blue roman numerals. The intricate brass inlay enhanced by the striking red colour on the case.
The movement is eight-day and will strike the hour and half hours on a bell and is stamped S.Marti and also Z & Co. Paris.

Note: Andre Charles Boulle (1642-1743) was the famous French cabinetmaker who was considered the most important artist in the field of marquetry. He perfected the art of inlaying brass onto tortoiseshell, which became known as Boulle.

This really is a beautiful clock which would look fantastic on a mantelpiece or side table. All of our clocks are sold mechanically overhauled and in working order.
