French Directoire ormolu mounted white marble Portico mantel clock, standing on a rectangular base with gilt bronze mounts and resting on turned gilded feet.

The drum movement is flanked by two turned pillars with Corinthian capitals supporting the architectural pediment adorned with gilded mounts and central pierced ormolu apron below.

Eight day movement with large outside countwheel striking the hours and halves on a silvered bell. Original sunburst silk suspended pendulum. Beautifully pierced gilded hands, enamel dial with Roman numerals signed ‘Lefevre a Paris’. C.1790

‘Watchmakers and clockmakers of the world’ by Brian Loomes lists Lefevre as working in Paris toward the end of the eighteenth century.
