Jean Charles Saunier (Paris 1700 - 1765) French cabinetmaker descendant of a well-known cabinetmaker family was nominated as a master in 1737. In 1743 he took over the paternal workshop introducing among its first the use of European woods for the original designs of his inlays, he collaborated with the famous Jean-Fran├žois Oeben.

The main characteristics of its furniture are mainly the elegant simplicity of the lines combined with the warmth of exotic woods from the Indies and the Americas that bring out the whole in a harmonious, flowing and refined way.

This Louis XV chest of drawers completely in bois de violette is moved both centrally and sideways, with 4 drawers, two large and two small, has really richly defined ornaments in gilded bronze of high thickness with original antique marble is stamped IC Saunier.

It combines the grace of the line with a decoration of deliberate reserves that frame a frieze in purple wood set in "butterfly wings", favoring optical effects and light effects.
