An 18th century brass or 'French plate' Sauceboat, circa 1750, struck in the interior with a pseudo 'lion passant' three times. The outside with signs of an engraved armorial within a motto garter and with a coronet above. An identical sauce boat was sold by Rupert and Belinda Gentle: see black and white images in their photographic archive.
Close examination of the motto on the garter engraved on the Gentle sauceboat reveals that the motto is that of the Order of the Bath.
Good but with very little silvering remaining. A split to the body by the handle.
