This beautiful Rococo style commode takes after one of the most recognisable and iconic pieces of furniture created in the 18th Century: French cabinetmaker Charles Cressent's stunning piece, which now resides at Waddesdon Manor in England, as part of the Rothschild collection.

The cabinet, and especially its fantastic gilt bronze mounts, perfectly captures the free-flowing, flamboyant nature of the Louis XV, or Rococo style. It is curved in shape - known as bombe form - and is topped with veined pink serpentine marble. It is mounted all over its exterior with gilt bronze decorations, showing entwined oak branches. Doves are shown perching on some of the branches, and on the front of the cabinet, there are two putti shown sitting on the branches. There are further putti and doves mounted onto the corners of the commode. At the centre of the commode's front there is an urn motif mounted above a shell and acanthus leaf design.

The cabinet has two large drawers, the top of which is lockable.
