The four glass case, veneered with richly patinated rosewood has four adjustable brass bun feet. The silvered and engraved dial has foliate engraved corners and is signed by the maker below XII, ‘Frodsham, Gracechurch Street, London’. The blued steel hands appear to be original.
The movement is of the good quality, as one would expect from this maker, and has well turned pillars, substantial plates and chain fuse. The anchor escapement is visible through the top bevelled glass. Due to its small size the pendulum has a rating nut above, rather than below the bob. This “inverted rating mechanism” suggests the anchor escapement is original.
Height: 9 in (23 cm)

*The Frodshams were one of the greatest clockmaking dynasties working in London from circa 1780 until the end of the first half of the 19th century.
