The top rail with central floral carved section, out reaching to a carved scrolled shoulder to each side. The central pierced splat, in the shape of a tapering vase with three carved flowers to the centre. The out swept, curved arms emanate from the side rails and terminate in a tightly curved eagle’s head.
The chair is linked together by the seat rails which form a tapering rectangle, with an inset drop-in seat covered in a 19th century needlework. The front legs sweeping up into the seat rail frieze, with a large carved shell surround by carved floral decoration, the beautifully shaped cabriole legs terminate in a prominent ball and claw foot. The back legs of rounded, square tapering section, again out-sweeping and terminating in a pad foot.
A fabulous chair, enthusing quality and style.
