A fine George I walnut, ebony & boxwood strung cross banded kneehole desk, of excellent original colour & patina. The rectangular top with re-entrant corners, quarter veneered and with box & ebony stringing, cross banded with a moulded edge. Below one long over two pairs of three short strung, cross banded, quadrant-beaded and oak lined drawers with a central kneehole cupboard compartment, opening to reveal a cupboard with central shelf. A further moulding below and two front pairs of walnut veneered bracket feet. A neat compact piece.
Excellent. Minor repairs to chipped veneers, minor old restorations, waxing. Brassware believed to be original.
