The large Chinese Chippendale Rococo upright rectangular mirror has wonderful quality carving with intricate detail throughout. The frame is centred by a crest above finely carved 'C' scrolls and a carved bushy tailed squirrel. The shoulders have large carved acanthus leaf decorated 'C' scrolls and pierced relief carved mouldings above decorated columns. The sides are flanked with architectural elements of design hung with intertwined floral acanthus leaves, central carved rosettes and a pagoda shaped platform above carved leaf scrolls. The conjoined and inverted 'C' scrolls to the apron with a centred ornamental rocky waterfall and carved exotic bird is flanked with similar pierced scroll work to the top.
Excellent. The frame has had minor restoration replacing a few small pieces, the gilding refreshed and the plate is replaced.
