A good example of a London made mid 18th Century bracket clock. It has an inverted bell top case, with a brass carrying handle, corner silk backed door frets, canted corners and glass side windows. The dial has a strike silent feature within the arch, a mock bob pendulum, a date window and an engraved name plate signed by the maker, Marmaduke Storr of London. It has an hour bell striking, twin fusee, 5 pillar movement with an engraved backplate and a pull hour repeat.
The maker, Marmaduke Storr, is listed as apprenticed in 1728, and died in 1750. He was from York as were his family who were also clockmakers in York..
The case has been refinished at some stage, but not recently, the dial has been restored, the movement has been serviced in our own workshops and s guaranteed for 12 months. The original verge escapement has been converted to an anchor in the 19th Century. If you would like a 360 video clip of his clock when striking please email us.
