Solid mahogany frame with some delicately carved stringed edging and curved
gadrooned top with central finial. The impressively carved cistern cover can
be removed by pulling the sprung bottom finial down.

Brass scale engraved from 28 to 31 inches and silvered. The vernier scale
and pointer can be seen on the right dial.

Batty Storr was one of a small number of highly skilled and influential
clockmakers and instrument maker based in the prosperous city of York.
Other makers in his circle include Henry Hindley, John Smeaton and John
Holmes.
