Retaining Original Handles
Solid Nutty Colour Oak
A rare five drawer chest on original pad foot stand of delightful diminutive proportions. This understated and well-drawn chest is constructed from quarter sawn oak with evidence of good figuring. It has a slightly proud moulded top, above the five cock-beaded drawers which all retain the original brass handles and escutcheons. The elegant early stand has a well detailed apron and is raised on short, elegant turned legs and shaped pad feet. There are minor incidental repairs to a couple of drawer fronts and various scars and bruises caused by age and function, but generally this chest is in fine overall original condition and bears a good original surface colour and patination. This is a restrained ad understated piece of early Georgian furniture that would be equally stylish in a contemporary or traditional space.
