A rare and very charming antique sterling silver taper stick, the stem modelled in the form of Harlequin. Cast silver. Excellent quality. Lovely patina. Traces of the original gilding. Weight 186 grams, 5.9 troy ounces. Height 14 cms. Diameter of base 7 cms. London 1755. Maker John Cafe.
This candlestick was produced over a period of about ten years, mainly by William Café and his son John.
This superb piece of antique silver is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Marked underneath the edge of the base with a full set of crisp English silver hallmarks. Excellent patina. Traces of the original gilding.
