A good quality antique sterling silver tankard with domed lid and straight tapering form with coopered rings to the body. Engraved to the front is an armorial shield with lion crest and motto “Industria et Spe”. Owners initials engraved to the handle. Contains 950ml. Weight 830 grams, 26.6 troy ounces. Height 18.5 cms. Spread 16cms. Diameter of top 10.25 cms, base 12.25 cms. English silver hallmarks for London 1748. Maker Thomas Whipham.
This tankard is in good condition. Crisp engraving to the front. Fully marked both inside lid and on the body next to the handle. Makers mark on the handle. Some slight discoloration to the body.
