A handsome antique sterling silver samovar having a shaped folding handle with raffia finish. To the body and lid there is a pretty hand engraved decoration of flowers, foliage and scrolls. To the front and back there is a shaped floral cartouche, one containing an engraved crest. The matching stand, attached to the kettle by two chains with sliding keys, is beautifully pierced and stands on large shell feet, it has an integral burner well with push on top. Contains 1750 ml. Weight 1809 grams, 58.1 troy ounces. Height 33 cms. London 1740. Maker Richard Bayley.
This impressive antique silver kettle is in very good condition with no damage. It has been tested and does not leak. The silver marks under the kettle and burner are matching and are clear and easy to read. The little cover to the burner is lion marked.
