A fabulous and original George II walnut Kneehole desk by Elizabeth Bell & Sons, circa 1740-50.

The kneehole has a super quarter veneered, figured walnut top bordered by a fine feather stringing. Cross banded and edged with a cross grain ovolo moulding.
Surrounding the oak lined detachable centre cupboard, which is also banded with a fine feather stringing and cross banded, are six oak lined drawers bearing their original locks. The frieze drawer is veneered in four well chosen sections of figured and booked matched walnut, sitting above a shaped apron that is also a hidden drawer.

The desk relates to a labelled example by Elizabeth Bell, illustrated in 'Early Georgian Furniture 1715-1740' by Adam Bowett, page 123, plate 3:56.
Original condition including all handles, escutcheons, hinges and feet. (minor restorations to tips of feet)
