A very good George III ebonised bracket clock by Edward Whittingham, London. The case of low bell top design with central brass carry handle and pineapple finials to each corner, below the door with broken arch top and inset top corner brass fret work. The brass dial with matted centre, silvered chapter ring, strike silent selector to the top, date aperture to the bottom of the centre, twin winding holes and makers cartouche above. The dial is bordered by vine and ribbon spandrels. The case has circular and semi-rectangular windows to each side and is supported on brass ogee bracket feet. The 5 pillar, twin fusee movement with original verge escapement, striking the hours on a bell, the back-plate beautifully engraved with an unusual rococo pagoda scene. A superb clock in excellent condition.
Excellent. The movement has been fully overhauled, minor restorations to case.
