George III Glazed Antique Mahogany Bookcase on Stand.
This chic George III glazed antique bookcase on stand, circa 1800, is the perfect piece to not only provide storage for books but also act as a display cabinet as the ornate glazed doors would beautifully frame whatever is inside. It has a rectangular moulded top above the two glazed doors which have elegant moulded beading, and key and working lock. The interior of the antique bookcase/display cabinet has three adjustable shelves, always useful especially if displaying books or artefacts of differing heights. The piece stands on a base that was added later but because it was done in an early part of its life it looks like a complete piece originally made as it looks today....all adding to the mystery behind an antique! It is a rich, medium mahogany with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.
