A splendid George III mahogany broken arch top bracket clock by Charles Bayles, London, of compact dimensions. The case veneered with figured mahogany throughout, with a single pad top with brass carrying handle, broken arch shaped front door and glass sides. The dial has to the top twin subordinate dials one with rise & fall regulation the other strike/silent, with makers cartouche inscribed “Chas Bayles, London” centrally located , silvered chapter ring and silvered centre with date aperture and winding holes. The dial is profusely engraved all over with vine and leaf detailing. The twin fusee movement with original verge escapement, the backplate, retaining brackets and pendulum profusely engraved with leaves & vines.
Excellent. The movement has been fully overhauled, minor restorations to the case, cleaning & waxing.
