A good English early George III, 8 day, mahogany longcase clock by Ben Healey, London. The 5 pillar rack striking movement of good quality. The broken arch hood with prominent ovolo top moulding, above a broken arch door opening to reveal the dial, with elegant and unusual cherub spandrels, a strike /silent selector to the top with unusual star shaped background, matted centre section, silvered dial and subordinate seconds dial, lower date aperture, blued steel fretwork hands, twin winding holes and makers cartouche to lower centre inscribed “Ben Healey, Deptford”, bordered by reeded columns with one third inlaid brass. The trunk with broken arched flame mahogany door over a base with raised centre panel terminating in a double plinth with pad feet.

Ben Healey is listed in “Baillie’s Clock Makers of the World” as a clock and also a watch maker, working before 1776
Excellent. The movement has been fully cleaned and overhauled; the case has been cleaned and waxed minor repairs and restorations, possible other old restorations.
