The case although of elegant, true proportions is surprisingly diminutive being only 78.5” high. The hood is of broken arch form with canted moulded front columns, with fan shaped lower corner quadrants set off by ebony inlay, to the side fretwork sound holes. The trunk with arched flame mahogany door bordered by reeded quarter columns, the base with flame mahogany centre panel, standing on bracket feet Extremely well figured mahogany is used throughout.
Edinburgh was regarded as a principal clock making centre, second only to London, this clock is a fine and elegant example of that great city’s work.
