A fine George III mahogany serpentine commode of low compact dimensions with excellent original colour and patina. The top cross banded and strung with box having an applied moulded edge and elegant serpentine shape with out-swept front corners. Below an arrangement of four long graduated, cock-beaded drawers fitted with brass swan neck handles and keyhole lock escutcheons. These are bordered by a canted front corner with inlaid satinwood fluting interspersed with ebony inlay. The base with moulding edge supported by shaped, canted and curved bracket feet. A lovely piece of excellent size, retaining superb original colour & patina.
Excellent. Minor restorations, cleaning & waxing. Feet believed to be original. Fine colour & patina.
