A good mid-George III period walnut eight-day longcase clock by George Chambers of Newcastle. Silver and gilt bronze face, subsidiary dials including a Moon and date to the top. Finely crossbanded in contrasting timbers. Excellent overall condition. Restored and cleaned movement.

John George Chambers b. 1746 - 1813 d.Gateshead. A native of Newcastle, married Jane Tunny at St Andrews Newcastle 1770 but recorded as being in Gateshead soon after.(Pipewellgate) 1800
