When Christie's catalogued the contents of Dumfries House in July 2007 for the sale which never took place, they attributed several pieces to Thomas Chippendale's workshops because of the unique construction of the blockwork behind the feet allied to the red wash of the non visible elements of the pieces. This Press has the same blockwork and red wash as those illustrated, Vol. II, see page 20, Figs. 12 & 13 as well as lot 236.
