Item Description / Dealer Expertise

George III Hanoverian pattern, fancy-back sterling silver teaspoon. The back of the bowl is decorated with a stamped rococo design.
These spoons, as well as picture-back spoons, are highly collectable and make ideal presents. Die stamped decorations were found on the back of the bowls of teaspoons between the 1730s to the 1790s. However, they were particularly popular from the 1750s to the 1770s. Hanoverian teaspoons, whether decorated or plain, are an extremely useful size since they are small enough to be used with demi-tasse coffee cups.
The end of the stem is engraved on the back with contemporary initials E H. The base of the stem is stamped with the maker's mark and the Lion Passant Assay mark
