A good antique sterling silver tankard with domed hinged lid and plain baluster form. Good size and weight. An unusual feature is the broad gadrooned foot with matching gadroon to the base of the handle. Attractive strapwork and shaped pierced thumbpiece to the top of the handle. Uninscribed. Contains 1165 ml. Weight 893 grams, 28.7 troy ounces. Height 21 cm. Diameter 10.3 cm (top). Spread 17 cm. London 1768. Maker Thomas Wallis I.
This fine tankard is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Uninscribed. Good weight and colour. Fully marked with clear silver stamps inside the lid and underneath the body, handle unmarked.
