Of sporting interest. A decorative antique sterling silver tankard with a deep embossed decoration of a shooting scene. Gilt interior. The chased decoration is excellent quality and shows a gentleman with a rifle in a wooded clearing and birds flying; there is a band flower and foliate ornament below. To the front there is a regimental inscription. Contains 825 ml. Weight 825 grams, 26.5 troy ounces. Height 19 cms. Spread 18 cms. Diameter 10 (top). Full English silver hallmarks for London 1766. Maker Thomas Whipham & Charles Wright.
This superbly decorated tankard is in very good condition with no damage or restoration. Good clear English silver hallmarks to the body, lid unmarked, handle with makers mark. The embossed decoration is deep and of excellent quality, but later done, as is the gilding.
Please note that this item is not new and will show moderate signs of wear commensurate with age. Reflections in the photograph may detract from the true representation of this item.
